2019 end of season update
Wednesday 30th October 2019
The end of October sees the sun finally set on the 2019 resorts season and we reflect on how our travels and findings were, and how each resort was, and to start thinking ahead to 2020.
We have also attached a PDF of a snapshot of our travels this year! Every resort was visited at least once during the season and every DJ we met added to our (increasing) database and given a 2019 USB wristband - a back-up to our new digital DJ download system which this season was set up for mobile, tablet as well as laptop ease, which greatly improved our download and support / feedback numbers.
There was no reduction in the number of flights coming from the regions Cardiff / Bristol / East Midlands / Stanstead were all as busy as previous years. Even with the demise of Thomas Cook a few weeks ago as well as Brexit on-going dates throughout the season neither of these had any real effect on the usual late teens to early twenties heading off to the usual party resorts for their week or 2 away from their parents and post Uni for anything goes attitude. If anything, all that was different this year was that the peak weeks were 2nd week of June until early September, so missing maybe a week or 2 at the start of June being capacity. Even now the temperatures across the Med, from Greece to Cyprus are still mid / high 20s and many of the bars and clubs are still open, but now just at weekends!
Unlike Ibiza, Marbella and other cool resorts the ones covered by us are not going to empty your bank account for the price of a bottle of water, or are you going to need a mortgage to gain admission to any of the top clubs. 20 Euros for all you can drink still applies, along with 1 euro shots a plenty although dont expect branded spirits!
All the resorts have a full on spread of ever-increasing daytime beach bars, established night bars and clubs, as well as daytime boat parties (booze cruises as they are more commonly known).
Ayia Napa
Once the go to resort for all things urban and garage, AN is now as across the board music-wise a resort as the other party resorts. Long standing venues inc The Castle and Club Black & White still host big urban nights but also have great across the board house and commercial nights. As established a resort as you can find and never short of great nightlife. And with the likes of Nissi Bay Beach Bar, Paradiso and Isola covering the daytime hours there is something for everyone from lunchtime right through until sunrise.
Magaluf
With BCM going from strength to strength once again, as well as the likes of BH Mallorca, the Office Club, Bananas this resort continues to be a busy as ever. Lots of the biggest name DJs still appear throughout the season and it will take a lot before Magaluf stops being one of the top go-to resorts. Daytime venues like Island Beach Club, Ocean Beach and Mambos continue to provide daylight hours activity
Malia
Although Crete is a full on beautiful island in its own right, its the one small town of Malia with a big reputation that keeps attracting groups of youngsters. With its perfect balance of quality bars for the early drinks to the key club like Candy Club, Zig Zag and Apollo for your nightlife, and Crystal Beach Club during the day, once again Malia didnt disappoint this year.
Zante
Long established big venues like Rescue and Zeros, along with Plus and Cherry Bay, Laganas bar street will always keep Laganas busy, and once again 2019 didnt disappoint.
Kavos
From the big clubs like Venue, Future & Atlantis, Kavos bar street keep this resort another of the key does-what-it-says-on-the-tin resorts. Long established bars like Rolling Stone to the Island Beach Clubs regular Sandstorm Beach Party.
Canary Islands
Although Tenerife was as busy as it could have been when we were there but Gran Canaria seemed slightly quiet this season with some venues closing mid-week and only opening Thurs Sat, but these were as busy as could have been.
Sunny Beach
The only resort well have a re-think for next season. Certainly well keep in touch with all the DJs from this year (as well as previous years) but we found this trip that there were more local DJs than previous years and getting them to understand what we do and what we require was harder this time. Lots more German, Dutch, Russians and local tourists than previous years as well whilst we were there.
We also covered a handful of our old tried and tested DJs in some of the commercial venues to be found in San Antoni and Marbella and over the winter months well certainly be thinking how to expand on these for next season. Although our sister division Hyper Active cover the cooler venues in Ibiza, Croatia and Marbella in-depth, and like no-one else does, but with the ever increasing popularity of daytime beach bars and boat parties, along with other west end bars we may hit Euro Solution tracks to the commercial DJs a lot more next season.
2019 saw a good selection of DJs and acts who held down residencies in the commercial resorts - Joel Corry / Nathan Dawe / Aitch / James Hype / Charlie Sloth / Fredo / Sigala / Tom Zanetti / Hardy Caprio / Nancie were amongst the ones who had regular / weekly nights. Looking at some of their tour dates were not sure how they last the pace eg between June-Aug Joel Corry did 58 dates, inc weekly ones in Magaluf / Zante / Kavos / Malia. Nancie did @ 30 appearances over the Summer months, inc regular dates in Malia, Ayia Napa, Zante, Ibiza and Mallorca, and Nathan Dawe did just short of 40 dates, the majority in the commercial resorts we cover. Stamina and no sleep ruled for them!
The top tracks from the commercial resorts this year were:
Joel Corry Sorry
Meduza Piece Of Your Heart
Calvin Harris Im Not Alone (camelphat remix)
Calemphat (Jake Bugg) Be Someone
CamelPhat & Cristoph Ft. Jem Cooke - Breath
Avicii Heaven / SOS (Remixes)
Lil Nas X Ft. Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road
Shack Wes - Mo Bamba
Tiesto Ritual
Dj regard Ride It
Jason Derulo Ft. Farruko - Mamacita
Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant (Purple Disco Machine Remix)
