Mark Picchiotti tackles this Chaka Khan classic by bringing his own triple-threat of mixes: two servings of funk—funky disco house and funky gospel—and a third “house” mix that defies categorization. His latest powerhouse vocalist, Candice Chavez—often heard belting the national anthem at Phoenix Suns NBA games—delivers the gold with her Chaka-worthy performance.

Regarding the varying mixes Mark shares: “My love for house music runs deep, and I’ve expressed that love over the past 40 years through my DJ sets and productions, exploring and indulging in a wide range of genres that resonate with me. With my label Blueplate Records, I'm enjoying the freedom of not being boxed in by expectations—mine or anyone else’s. Yet all the while I’ll definitely be delivering the goods.”

The result of Mark’s musical exploration is delivered across three unique mixes: The Disco Mix is a non-stop, feel-good roller coaster of disco fun. The journey then continues with a spirited, piano-driven, foot-stomping Funky Gospel ride. And the final stop is the Blueprint mix—built on a more aggressive modern house foundation, with a garage-inspired bassline and “live” instrument musical sections—all buttered with layers of synth keys of a somewhat darker persuasion.
