Pet Shop Boys release their new double A-side single, ‘New London boy’ / ‘All the youngdudes’, today, November 7. The single is available now as two digital bundles and fromNovember 15 as two CD singles.
The first five-track format includes a new radio edit of ‘New London boy’ and a coverversion of the David Bowie-penned ‘All the young dudes’ produced by James Ford withorchestral arrangements by Anne Dudley. Pet Shop Boys originally performed this song inFebruary in BBC Radio 2’s ‘Piano Room’. The lyrics of ‘New London boy’ are about Neilmoving to London in 1972 at the height of the glam rock era when ‘All the young dudes’ wasa hit – linking the two songs thematically. The bundle also includes a different ‘Delinquent’version of ‘All the young dudes’ produced by Pet Shop Boys and an extended remix byRichard X, plus a previously unreleased song, ‘Beauty has laid siege to the city’, which waswritten and recorded in 2020 and uses a quotation from the 19th century illustrator, AubreyBeardsley, as the title.
The second four-track format features a Richard X edit and I. JORDAN remix of ‘All theyoung dudes’, a Boy Harsher remix of ‘New London boy’ and the song ‘Clean Air HybridElectric Bus’, which was originally written and recorded in 2015 and included as a bonustrack on the Japanese deluxe edition of the ‘Nonetheless’ CD.The digital bundles are available now. The CD singles will be released on Friday November15 and are available to pre-order now. The cover art for the first format/CD1 features a photoof Neil taken that year when he first moved to London, while the second format/CD2 coveris a picture of Chris shot in 1981, the year he arrived in the city
