An immediate gridiron sensation his rookie year in 2022 with the New England Patriots, cornerback and return specialist Marcus Jones was named first team All-Pro as a punt returner by the Associated Press and made the PFWA (Pro Football Writers of America) All-Rookie team for his season as the NFL punt return yards leader.
The multi-talented Alabama native is also making exciting waves these days in the music industry as fast-emerging singer/songwriter and recording artist Elliott.J. His smooth, soulful vocals and 80’s retro-pop/R&B vibe is about to hit dance floors worldwide via a high-energy, fast grooving remix of his new single “Make it Right” by famed UK electronic music duo Moto Blanco. The track, released by Dauman Music, drops May 12.
Jason Dauman, whose label has been involved with numerous Grammy nominated projects and Billboard #1 singles, says, “What jumps out about Elliott.J is his tone that’s very warm and draws the listener in. That’s something you can’t learn. It’s just a natural sound.”
Testament to his diverse artistry and crossover potential, Elliott.J joins a long list of pop superstars who have scored Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart hits thanks to Moto Blanco’s distinctive studio magic. These include Adele, Ariana Grande, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Jennifer Hudson.
With its opening line “See you dancing in a crowded room,” “Make it Right” lends itself perfectly to this dynamic remix. “With the original version, I was going for an atmospheric 80’s retro vibe, creating a story about a guy telling a woman that while they might have their differences, he’s still very much in the relationship, wanting to figure things out and make things right,” Elliott.J says. “It’s a story I think many can relate to, a house party situation where seeing her on the dance floor sparks his memory of the good times they’ve shared and his desire to do anything to make things work.”
Influenced by groundbreaking artists like The Weeknd, Drake and Doja Cat, Elliot.J’s creative evolution over the past few years has found him moving from the rap/hip-hop/R&B style of his 2021 debut album Complications to branching into pop and funk on his way to the smoother vocal style he shares on “Make It Right.”
“The music I’m working on now has a more authentic flavor, and I love making retro pop-soul that you could hear playing at pool parties, at a lounge, at places people skate and on TV commercials,” he says. “I’m always open to exploring new sounds and broadening my horizons, and I can see myself entering a more alt/R&B lane and doing more contemporary pop and EDM as well. I’ve always wanted to see what the dance music world is like, because I love the way dancing makes people happy and puts them in good spirits. I love both versions of ‘Make It Right.’ The remix Moto Blanco did was incredible, especially the excitement of the pop-styled keyboard chords right off the bat and the way they let the song breathe. You could never tell the original was a downtempo track.”
