RetroPopBoy wants everyone to feel "Loved" with his Kim Wilde cover

Sunday 11th June 2023

Release date: Out now Label: RetroPopBoy

The New single from RetroPopBoy is a cover of Kim Wilde’s Loved, which was never released in the UK but hit the Top 10 in Europe in 2001. Written by Ricky Wilde and Terry Ronald (who has written and produced hits for Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Girls Aloud, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor among many others), the single has an infectious retro groove that will make you dance like it’s 1999! The single features an old-style extended mix and two remixes by Bearly Disco, known for his bootleg Kylie mixes. “I feel the lyric ‘Love isn’t always the same’ is particularly relevant right now,” says RetroPopBoy. “I wanted to release this song to coincide with Pride as we’re seeing a growing tide of hate against the LGBTQI+ community, and especially trans people. The message of the song is that they are loved. I think everyone who’s being oppressed needs to hear that,” he adds. “As a gay dad, I think that message is important to pass on, particularly as we see more opposition to teaching about LGBTQI+ identities in schools.”
