Kim Petras has released her brand new single ‘Malibu’ – a glittering, sun-kissed slice of pop escapism. The single, inspired by the Baywatch fantasy of Malibu, hears Kim’s signature big vocals soar over a wave of 80s Debarge flavoured synths and buoyant club beats. Stream here.

“‘Malibu’ is a return to colour, the feeling of being in love, and the escapism pop that I love the most,” said Kim Petras. “After Clarity, I had cried all my tears and moved on, so this is a reflection of how I’ve been feeling. I just want ‘Malibu’ to be a fizzy, refreshing drink that comes to you during this quarantine and makes you forget all your anxieties. I hope this can be a little vitamin shot that brightens your day.”

‘Malibu’ is next in Kim’s string of undeniable singles, following the break-up bop ‘Reminds Me’ (BBC Radio 1 B-List). Kim recently wrapped her sold-out North American and European headline tour with a packed-out and electrifying show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. The Clarity Tour earned her rave reviews with critics, including The Daily Telegraph saying Kim “blew us over with the strength of her vocals”, while praising her “highly entertaining stage persona” as “LA Valley Girl crossed with a young Madonna”. NME also hailed the rising star’s potential, describing Kim as “an alternate reality chart-dominating popstar”.

The German-born singer-songwriter has racked up more than 320 million global streams – powered by irresistible tunes like ‘Icy’ (Scott Mills’ BBC Radio 1 Tune of The Week), ‘Heart to Break’, ‘Close Your Eyes’, ‘Broken’, ‘Sweet Spot’ and ‘I Don’t Want It At All’. It also follows her critically-acclaimed, 12-track project Clarity, which dominated Spotify’s New Music Friday and Apple Music’s Best of The Week.

Kim recently performed as part of The Stonewall Inn Gives Back – a live stream fundraising concert for the LGBTQ+ nightlife industry, alongside Cyndi Lauper, Troye Sivan, Rufus Wainwright, Alan Cumming, Betty Who, Allie X, and more. Kim performed a cover of Paris Hilton’s ‘Stars Are Blind’ (watch here). Kim also recently received a GLAAD Outstanding Music Artist award nomination for Clarity after being nominated last year forTurn Off The Light, Vol. 1.
