EKKAH have shared the video for their new single ‘Can’t Give It Up’, taken from forthcoming double A-side Can’t Give It Up / Figure It Out (Night Edit). Watch the video HERE.
Anchored around an ice-cool refrain of R-E-A-L-L-O-V-E, ‘Can’t Give It Up’ is sequin-laced, downtown pop at its slinkiest, soaked with uplifting groove, interstellar funk and that elusive shimmer of effortless positivity and melody that is EKKAH through and through.
On the flipside, ‘Figure It Out’, one of the bands very first tracks, is given an extended italo-disco makeover, demonstrating once again that when it comes stylish and sophisticated contemporary dancefloor allure, EKKAH are in a league of their own.
Can’t Give It Up / Figure It Out (Night Edit) presents the second instalment in a trilogy of double A-side, boogie-minded singles from the London via Birmingham duo of Rebecca Wilson and Rebekah Pennington, following the DâM FunK produced What’s Up / Space Between US which was a regular spin on BBC 6 Music and championed by publications including i-D and Gorllia Vs Bear. The final instalment is due early next year, ahead of the duo’s anticipated debut album.
Fresh off dates supporting Jodie Abacus, EKKAH will be embarking on their own headline shows in November, culminating at London’s Corsica Studios on November 10th, before supporting Shura at Paris’s Point Éphémère on the 17th.
EKKAH’s addictive brand of dancefloor ready disco pop has earned them wide-ranging praise on both sides of the Atlantic, from NYLON to Rookie to The Fader and The Guardian. They’ve supported a host of artists from Jess Glynne to their hero Nile Rodgers and have released a series of timeless-feeling tracks – all the time exuding a warm and supportive positivity both on stage and on record that subtly emphasises the importance of female friendship.
