"Spoken Word" from Chase & Status Ft. George The Poet
Monday 27th June 2016
Spoken Word
Release date: TBC
‘Spoken Word’ was premiered by Zane Lowe as a ‘World First’ on his Beats 1 show on 16th June. Speaking to CHASE & STATUS, Zane said: "You get better album by album, so this record is automatically going to sound better than any attempt at kind of making people jump at that tempo you’ve tried before…”
Following the Slaves-infused punk banger ‘Control’ and street anthem ‘NRG’ featuring Novelist, ‘Spoken Word’ is the first single proper and the third cut to be lifted from CHASE & STATUS’ forthcoming fourth studio album due for release later this year.
Incorporating a nod to Rozalla’s 1990s rave classic ‘Everybody’s Free’, ‘Spoken Word’ features critically acclaimed wordsmith George The Poet. Dubbed “The hottest name in spoken word” (The Observer) who is “changing the perception of poetry as we know it” (i-D), George has broken new ground with his socio-political, street-savvy verse in literature and music alike.
Following on from their high-octane performance at Radio 1 Big Weekend, CHASE & STATUS will be headlining a number of festivals including Wireless (on 9h July) and Sundown Festival (on 3rd September). This summer also sees them return to Ibiza for their annual residency at Amnesia, which, after kicking off on 7th June, has already seen them joined by Stormzy, Kano, Andy C, Predator and Redlight to name but a few.
Described by Spin Magazine as ‘Nothing short of megastars’, CHASE & STATUS are one of the most successful British bands of the past decade. ‘No More Idols’ - the follow-up to their ground-breaking critically acclaimed debut album, ‘More Than Alot’- was the second best-selling UK album by a British band in the year of its release, spawned seven A list Radio 1 hit singles, and achieved double platinum status. Their third studio album, ‘Brand New Machine’ debuted at no. 2 in the albums charts, and brought their career record sales tally to over 3.5 million.
Universally acclaimed for their phenomenal live performances, CHASE & STATUS have embarked on tour after tour throughout Australia, North America and Europe, with their last tour in the UK seeing them headline arenas (including a sold out 02) and play to over 80,000 people. Having perennially headlined festival stages (from Glastonbury and Reading through to Global Gathering) CHASE & STATUS have played countless festivals worldwide to date.
