Release date: TBC Label: Lost Ones / Virgin EMI

21-year-old WAUVE (pronounced as rhyming with suave) announces his first single; the party-wave WAYSIDE STORY ft KIDA KUDZ released via the newly formed Virgin EMI LOST ONES imprint.

Hailing from the small East African country of Eritrea, WAUVE’s work draws inspiration from a hybrid of influences; resulting in his own unique sound of R&B-infused afrobeat. Referencing the work of trap pioneers such as LEX LUGER and studying the sounds of artists such as T-PAIN, CHRIS BROWN, BRYSON TILLER, his musical DNA is made up of elements of his heritage combined with these crossover trap / R&B melodies.

A determined and dedicated young artist, WAUVE spent his formative teenage years scouring YouTube for new music and teaching himself how to produce; gradually honing his craft by producing beats for YouTubers for next to no money whilst studying part-time in creative music production and business.

After finding success on collaborations with YouTubers PARRIS and KOOMZ, WAUVE attracted attention as an artist in his own right and began to develop his skills of clever storytelling matched with great songwriting, and his acute attention to detail across all of these strands.

Fast forward to now and his first single WAYSIDE STORY ft KIDA KUDZ - written between university and signing his deal earlier this year – explores the feeling of being stuck outside of the system, hustling day-to-day to get by.

Wauve quotes;

“I felt like music was the only thing that would get me out of that hard place I was in, so I just said how I felt and sang about what I was experiencing at the time. I will always look back at Wayside Story as a checkpoint in my life that many people can relate to...it’s the come up.”

WAYSIDE STORY is the first taster of a run of explosive new music from this producer – turned – artist, and all roads lead to release of his debut mixtape set for later this year.
