The UK’s Pop Princess Returns With Brand New Single
She’s sold over 4 million records, had three UK No.1 singles, 49 million views on YouTube and performed to sell out crowds across the country on her debut 2011 tour. Now, ultimate pop sensation Alexandra Burke triumphantly returns with a brand new single ‘Elephant’ featuring Erick Morillo, released via RCA Records on February 26th 2012.
‘Elephant’ is a cool slice of electro pop/dance, co-written and produced by dance guru Erick Morillo during his time in Ibiza late summer 2011, where he was resident at Pacha with his legendary 'Subliminal' nights. Lyrically the track talks of a relationship breaking down and not discussing the ‘elephant standing in the room’.
Alexandra’s superlative vocals chant ‘You wanna talk, you wanna talk about it?’ over a pulsating beat and electric bassline, creating an undeniable knockdown dancefloor smash.
The track is the first single to be taken from Alexandra’s highly anticipated second album, due for release later in 2012.
Since emerging as victor of the X Factor in 2008, Alexandra’s career has gone supernova. Her debut single 'Hallelujah', became the Christmas No.1 and the fastest selling single by a female artist in UK chart history. Her second single ‘Bad Boys’ shot straight to No.1 in the UK and sold over 750,000 copies, quickly followed by a double platinum No.1 debut album ‘Overcome’, that has to date sold over 2 million copies worldwide. A further three hit singles followed including the No.1 smash ‘Start Without You’. Alexandra won Best Newcomer at the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards and picked up Ultimate Pop Star at the Cosmopolitan Awards.
2011 saw Alexandra became the first X Factor star to have a judging panel role during auditions for the BBC’s So You Think You Can Dance, and she recently appeared as a replacement judge for Kelly Rowland on the 2011 series of The X Factor.
Alexandra supports a number of charities including Save The Children and Breast Cancer Care, for whom she climbed the INCA Trek in Peru. She recently visited Uganda for Sports Relief to highlight domestic violence in the country. She has also just been announced as the first Ambassador for The Railway Children, a charity targeting kids at risk of running away from home.
Now with a brand new album nearing completion, the UK’s most exciting pop juggernaut is ready to start phase two of the Alexandra Burke success story.
