‘Go Time,’ the prodigious new single from UK-based duo iLL BLU, is released globally today, following a first radio play on DJ Target’s 1Xtra show. The profound video for ‘Go Time’ premiered exclusively with GRM and follows on from the visual excellence that was ‘Chop My Money’.
Enlisting a stellar cast including Ay Em, Geko, ZieZie and C. Tangana, the new track stays to the genre-defying, dynamic sound that defines iLL BLU. Featuring infectious melodies and heavy baselines, the track showcases their roots as the dancefloor remains their focus. ‘Go Time’ features dancehall influences and flawless production that are characteristic of the duo, whilst combining with polished, vivid visuals.
The video features iLL BLU and the collaboration artists crashing a super sophisticated evening, and bringing all the vibes with a bunch of friends. Directed by Luke Biggins (Stefflon Don / Ghetts) the video successfully captures the carefree, breezy essence that the pair are becoming renowned for.
iLL BLU explain, “linking up with Ay Em geko, ZieZie & C. Tangana was organic as we have worked with them all before and we wanted to make “Go Time” a coming together of different cultures which really represents the thriving UK scene. Shooting the video was so sick, so much fun and good energy. It was good to link up with the lads again out of a studio environment.”
Having originally made their name on the UK funky scene, iLL BLU have evolved and shown an ability to master whatever they put their hands to. No longer are James and Darius simply two friends sharing a love for music, their tried and tested formula has received support from the likes of Rinse, BBC Radio 1Xtra, FACT, Mixmag, and more. Over the years they’ve collaborated with an impressively diverse line-up of artists including James Morrison and JP Cooper as well as adding their Midas touch to official remixes for Sam Smith, Hot Chip, and Popcaan, amongst others.
Previous single ‘Chop My Money’, which featured Krept & Konan, Zie Zie and Loski was a testament to what is to come from the London-based duo. The official video has amassed over 9M views with the single receiving nearly 10M streams on Spotify alone.
