Following their biggest headline date yet at The Roundhouse and supporting The Streets on their iconic recent UK tour, South London’s finest MC trio follow on from their recent drop “Ex Girl” with their gorgeous new track “The Lottery”. The track is released with a pre-order for their upcoming new EP “Free The Geezer”.
A synthy, low-ebb instrumental allows the emcees to deliver some of their most personal lines yet, and a beauty of a sung vocal gives a whole new personality to a style that has been winning them new fans all year. Speaking on the track, they state: “It’s all about the ups and downs of the music game and life in general that we’ve been through, from retirement to signing record deals. The simple message is you got to be in it to win it, so don’t give up (unless you’ve got a gambling problem!).”
Beginning as three friends from Beckenham, south London scheming on their fag break during college, MCs Danny Graft, Scotty Stacks and Jonny Dutch started fusing UKG with elements of grime and rap to a fierce sense of local pride and a love of their community. Starting to put on shows - essentially parties for themselves and their mates – they started building a serious reputation; Inner-city hustle mixed with local love has swiftly caught the attention of heavyweight tastemakers including NOISEY, SHORTLIST, RED BULL, CLASH and BBC R1Xtra as well as The Streets’ founder Mike Skinner who personally asked them to be main support on their recent UK tour.
“The Lottery” is a considered and subtle gem that underlines the artistic development the trio are making as they continue to build hype around their forthcoming and their celebrated new podcast. This new release sees them on contemplative form, and underlines their reputations as one of the most exciting emerging acts in the UK right now.
