As the sun has finally set on the Summer 2016 season....................

Wednesday 26th October 2016

.....we  thought we’d reflect a little on another 4+ months of providing and promoting some of the biggest new tracks to the commercial UK aimed resort DJs.

Once again we covered all the resorts which are covered by the main companies and targeting the UK holiday makers and, although all the resorts reported the usual peak weeks throughout August, a couple of them noted either a slight drop in customers (Kos/Kardamena and Rhodes/Faliraki, due to early worry caused by boat migrants with holidaymakers instead heading to further away resorts, especially Spanish / Balearic resorts instead), or a slightly shorter season of @ 10 weeks rather than 12 really strong weeks.

However, on the huge plus side, trusted resorts like Zante (Plus and Rescue being the biggest and busiest venues) and Kavos (Future / Buzz / Cherry Bay) reported back with solid numbers through the doors and being as busy as they could be, and adding other tried and trusty venues like BCM in Magaluf, and the big ones in Ayla Napa (Castle / Black & White / Bedrock), Malia (Candy Club) to this list, and the 2016 season nights were as busy as they could be.  The variety of themed nights this year included the increasely popular paint parties, which consist of either being sprayed with multi coloured paint or covered with powder, all of which simply washes down / off afterwards and is like the new foam party experience from years ago, through to the regular bar crawls, popular acts ranging from DJs Danny Howard and Charlie Sloth through to celeb TV celebrities (Ex On The Beach / Geordie Shore etc), through to current big names ie. Stormzy, Craig David, Sigma and Example to list a few.

Each season starts with DJs bringing last year’s biggest tracks and this year it was the likes of (David Zowie / Calvin (Deep) / Avicii / Sigala / Dr Kucho / Martin Solveig etc.) and a selection of big 2016 to date UK club and chart tracks with them and then slowly add all the newer releases as the weeks progress until we get to the peak weeks where it’s as much new as older – and we’re always encouraging DJs to try the newer tracks for warm up, or for those who play daytime venues where they don’t have to look at filling dance floors.

Aaron, our traveling office rep, travelled to 5 of the resorts this season and we also used a selection of DJs who are based in the resort from May-October and who we’ve known, used and trusted over the years to be our voice and face on the ground, which worked out really well. As well as sending the music digitally to the DJs as we do for our UK DJs we back this up by sending out USB wristbands – either Aaron drops them off by hand or we ship them out to our ‘reps’ who then drop them all off – as well as chase and remind everyone that reactions do need to be filled in, no matter how brief, but are vital to the roll we all play.

We sent out regular updates to the DJs which included the MW Club Charts and selected radio playlists along with anything else of interest, and we encouraged DJs to use Shazam to get the info for any music played.

Recent years have seen such a huge increase in daytime venues and bars and boat parties – all the better for more outlets playing music – all in a similar copy / look to Marbella TOWIE clubs or Ocean Beach in Ibiza – and many of the holiday resort key hotels now have DJs playing music around the pool trying to keep them there rather than them heading to the beach every day.

When we asked the DJs what have been the tracks (new and recent) that they feel were the most popular for them this season this is what they came back with:-

Kungs vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners / Bob Marley / Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha / Justin Timberlake / Sia & Sean Paul / Calvin Harris (How Dee and This Is What) / Bob Sinclar (Someone) / Major Lazer (Light It Up) / Stormzy (Shut Up) / Skepta (Shut Down) / Digital Farm Animals / MO / Jax Jones (House Work) / Jonas Blue (Perfect Strangers) / Lethal Bizzle (Fester) / Martin Solveig (any) / Chainsmokers (Don’t) / Sigal & Craig David (Your Love)

If you have any questions relating to any of the 2016 Euro Resorts coverage please don’t hesitate to ask.
