Multi-faceted Caribbean artist, Kalpee, calls upon fellow award winning Trinidad Producer Precision and platinum selling UK production team Da Beatfreakz and as he brings the tropics to the airwaves with his Soca and Dancehall Remixes - out now.

Kalpee builds on the explosive success of ‘Island Gyal’ which saw support from Notion, House of Solo, and Wordplay Magazine praising the spellbinding single for its soulful melodies and modern fusion of Calypso, dancehall, and reggae rhythms.

The remixes kick off with impact, as Da Beatfreakz presents an infectious take on the track, with a punchy, upbeat dancehall groove elevating sun-kissed piano, later accompanied by mesmerizing string stabs which drive the energetic remix forward.

Having worked with the likes of Giggs, N-Dubz, Chris Brown and Sean Paul, DBF have been gifting the UK scene with fresh sounds for over 15 years and this ‘Island Gyal Dancehall Remix’ sees their experience shine through, in a lively, beach-ready, dancehall remix led by Jay Moe for DBF.

Trinidad and Tobago born producer Kasey Phillips is the founder of highly regarded music company Precision Productions. Publicly known as Precision, he has built a reputation for captivating Soca, Dancehall, Reggae, Pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop audiences, while out the studio his reputation earned him an invite to be on the Grammy Nomination Committee for the World Music genre in recognition of his work.

Precision’s Island Gyal Soca Remix is effortless. Built around a charging Soca rhythm, the remix’s hypnotic vocal edits lace the track with a feeling of euphoria and bliss as Precision intelligently blends elements of various genres into his signature Soca sound.

Of ‘Island Gyal Soca Remix’, Precision said: “The Island Gyal Soca Remix brings that carnival energy for all waistlines and able bodies to get set for the road and take center stage! “ 

These remixes add a fresh coat of paint to ‘Island Gyal’ bringing more sounds from the Islands to the table and have an unrivalled energy in their productions, crammed with irresistible rhythms and colourful composition, leading the way for the summer of 2022.

Of ‘Island Gyal’, Kalpee said: “I wanted this song to feel nostalgic, light and fun, ‘cause that's what the islands remind me of. The music feels so much like home, blending genres like calypso and dancehall together and incorporating instruments like steel pan and brass, that remind me of Trini carnival.” He explains how the track came to be, “The idea for the song started in Barbados but I knew I had to go back home to Trinidad, to capture the energy I thought was necessary for the track. As I landed in Trini, I linked up with my bro, Tano, who at the time had recently built his studio. I hadn’t seen him since before Covid happened, so I played him the idea of ‘Island Gyal’ and we immediately just started collaborating, vibing, talking about memories, about carnival and how sad it was that didn't happen and I think that was the inspiration that helped us finish the song.”

Of the video, he continues: “It was important to me that we shot this video in Trinidad and Tobago as I wanted to capture the beauty of home and the diversity within its people. That’s what I envisioned when I wrote ‘Island Gyal’.”

Kalpee has previously worked with platinum recording superstar Stefflon Don on his sun-soaked single ‘Gimme De Ting,‘ & Jamaican “Lightening” singer Mortimer on their “Lessons” release. He has also worked with an elite line up of Grammy Award producers & writers including: Carla Marie Williams (Beyonce, Britney Spears, Rudimental, Sean Paul), Yei Gonzales (Diplo, Cardi B, Dj Khaled), Santiago Rodriguez (Little Mix, Pit Bull, Akon) & The Anmls (The Weeknd, Future, BANKS, Belly, D.R.A.M, French Montana, Meek Mill).
